Kim DeStigter is a Registered Architect with more than four decades of professional experience shaping communities across West Michigan. As a Partner at DeStigter Architecture, Kim brings deep expertise in community-focused design, sustainable strategies, and collaborative planning.
Kim is licensed in Michigan, a LEED Accredited Professional, and a Certified Charrette Planner. His commitment to thoughtful, community-centered design is evident in projects such as 400 MLK Jr Community Building, 415 MLK Jr Adaptive Reuse, St. James Apartments & Townhomes, and numerous commercial and residential renovations throughout the West Michigan area.
Beyond practice, Kim has contributed significantly to civic and industry leadership. He served a decade on the Grand Rapids Planning Commission, including two years as Chair and has held roles with the Grand Rapids Zoning Board of Appeals, the Grand Rapids Downtown Rezoning Committee, and the West Michigan Environmental Action Council.
He has also presented on Universal Design, Creative Collaboration for Adaptive Reuse, and remains engaged in professional and community education.
Kim’s dedication to learning and teaching extends to his academic involvement as a former instructor in Graphic Communication and Concept Design at Calvin College. He holds a Master of Architecture and a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from the University of Michigan, along with a Bachelor of Arts from Calvin College.
With a career grounded in service, sustainability, and design excellence, Kim continues to influence the built environment through both practice and community leadership.
